Shortcut for excel user

Keyboard shortcuts are used to speed up our work and generally make things more convenient. They help in easy navigation as well as entering formulae more quickly. There are a plenty of keyboard shortcuts available. However we’ve tried to list the frequently used ones. We’ve listed major shortcut keys below.

General work shortcuts:

  • Ctrl+N: Create a new workbook
  • Ctrl+O: Open an existing workbook
  • Ctrl+S: Save a workbook

Shift-F11 = Creates a new blank worksheet within your workbook

Ctrl+Z: Undo an action

  • Ctrl+Y: Redo an action
  • F1: Open the Help pane
  • Ctrl+F: Search in a spreadsheet, or use Find and Replace
  • F7: Check spelling
  • Ctrl+p: Opens printing dialog

Selection Shortcuts

  • Ctrl+Space: Select the entire column
  • Shift+Space: Select the entire row

Editing Cells

  • Ctrl+X Cut contents
  • Ctrl+C Copy contents of a cell, selected data
  • Ctrl+V Paste contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
  • Ctrl+h Find and replace
  • F2 Opens the cell for editing in the formula bar
  • Ctrl+1  Opens cell formatting option for dates, currency etc.
  • Shift+f2  Insert Comments
  • Ctrl+shift+; Insert Current time
  • Ctrl+; Insert Current date
  • Alt+enter Enter key inside cell
  • Ctrl+~ Display all formulae used in the sheet
  • alt+h+w  wrap text inside cell
